I love my job - for the most part.
I work in customer service and have been in my current position for over 3 years now. I work ALL weekend EVERY weekend as well as 2-3 days during the week.
I've always worked weekends...well as long as I've been here I've been working weekends.I dislike it Immensly, it not only affects my social life it most importantly affects my family life.
I'm off 2-3 days during the week those days ALWAYS being weekdays - Either a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
My son is 6 and in the 1st grade. On my days off I drop him at school and run errands all day. On his days off I'm at work. It feels like we never get the chance to do anything fun together.
I hate working weekends, but I do it, I don't complain.
I've asked for a change on several seperate occasions, my boss always assures me he will "see what he can do" - Which obviously is jack shit all.
There are currently 3 people who work at my work, My boss, Myself and My mum happens to be the other employee (which is great). She works 7 days a week, 9hr+ days. She was the reason I started my Job, I just wanted to help out and give her some time off - It never happened. Instead my boss decided he would use the extra help to his advantage and take more time off.
The other day he mentioned we will be adding to our staff, a new female employee. I was excited and happy at 1st, thinking maybe finally we could share our workload with someone and things around there would flow smoother...I could spend more time with my mum and my family.
EHHHH, WRONG!!! The new addition happens to have another job, 3 kids, a husband and a house so naturally she gets to choose the days/hours that are suitable to her so she can work - so the boss can stop work ALTOGETHER!!
What a load of horse shit!!!
I've been there 3 years, my mum way longer then that. Between my mum and I we do SOOOO much around here he barely has to lift a finger and this is the gratitude we get. Nice.
My notice is written out, which really is a shame because I love my customers. 80% of them are regulars and ive come to know them all so well! These customers all say the only reason they come is because of my mum and I.
I've already been offered a few other jobs so lining up work will not be an issue. I just hope that he re-thinks his decisions.

I hate that there's always a jerk in every job.
